Quarantine Times - Home Studio

So here we are in week 5 of ‘partial-lockdown’. For many people, working from home is a new concept and a challenge. But for many freelancers or creatives it seems to be ‘same old, same old’.

I have to say that I might fall in between these two groups. I never found it hard to work from home, but 5 years ago (we were still living in our old apartment) I decided to invest and move into a studio out of my house. Since then, I’ve had 3 different work spaces. Not only was it a great move, so I could stop taking over the kitchen table, but it also pushed me further as a freelancer, I met other creatives and it helped me make bolder business choices and earn more.

We recently moved to our new appartment, and one of the things that I was dreaming of, was having a home studio! I even got a sink in the room - no more kitchen paint disasters! Why home studio you might ask? For some creative outputs, there’s no better place than home. And sometimes you just don’t want the commute (think about rain and wind and cold).

I was taking my sweet time in creating a cute space when this quarantine situation started …from one day to the next I had to ‘make it work’ in my house. A white canvas with one small table and lots of possibilities!

That said… I really need to get my ‘online shopping’ game on, since going out shopping just feels unnecessary in times of corona. I need a lamp, some proper storage system (I also keep bringing more stuff from my studio to the house) and a rug. Yeah I need a rug.

One of the perks I’ve found of working back at home is having so many of my inspirations close to me. I’m surrounded by many objects that make me happy. I’ve hung up many of the artworks I love, and set up my bookshelf with all my favourites. From children’s books, to graphic novels and little fun editorials.

And also, having really good coffee is a huge yes to working at home!

I hope to show you an updated version soon!
If you had a dream studio what would it look like?
